Due to our growth, we are currently recruiting for a proactive and enthusiastic Prototype / Flagship Products Wireman & Mechanical Integrator to operate within our growing Wiring and Mechanical Business Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast moving, busy and friendly environment with plenty of scope for progression.

 

Department Description:
 

M-TEK (Assembly) Wiring & Mechanical Business Unit specialises in the wiring and complete mechanical assemblies of prototypes and medium batch production of flagship products for various industries.

The Business Unit aims to provide a professional and cutting edge service to our end customers.

 

Position Summary

 

Performs at a senior specialist level, a variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly tasks in support of specific production units, developmental or prototype requirements in product development, manufacturing engineering or preproduction operations where documentation and guidance may be limited. Works from schematics, blueprints and oral instructions to construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components. Uses standard electronic assembly tools and materials. May perform modifications, rework and quality testing. Work typically includes interaction with development and/or manufacturing engineering personnel.  Where applicable relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Moderate skill with high level of proficiency. Works under immediate supervision requires exercising some independent judgment. May be required to provide training to new employees in specific areas.

 

Reports to

  • On day-to-day to Designated Wiring & Electro-Mechanical Assembly Supervisor
  • On a project Basis to designated Project Lead
     

Job Knowledge and Experience:

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to manufacture to an extremely high standard whilst working to tight deadlines
  • Experienced in soldering to J-STD-001 & IPC-A-610, MIL standards, as well as being highly proficient in prototype wiring, crimping and soldering
  • Ability to use test equipment needed to perform tasks
  • Ability to use optical test equipment
  • Able to read technical drawings, specification and procedures
  • Computer Literate Working knowledge of MS Office programs, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Good working knowledge and application of shop floor mathematics
     

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble all types Jumpers and cable assemblies
  • Assembling  and Soldering to M-TEK Bespoke standards and procedures
  • Conducting procedural Good Inward Inspection on production product including incoming material needed to support customer need date
  • Responsible for understanding and use of all test equipment, test fixtures where required, and procedures
  • Maintaining security for all quality verification equipment and its calibration control
  • Notify errors on procedures, drawings, bills of material, and router to the support teams (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering)
  • Responsible for completing documentation (shop packs) accurate and timely
  • Responsible for entering data into the Manufacturing system accurate and timely
  • Responsible for maintaining high quality standards and workmanship
  • Maintain excellent communication and working relationship with all departments within the company
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Communicating special tooling needed to perform operation that may have not been identified
  • Ability to be organized, prompt, professional and efficient with an excellent attention to detail. Ability to assess problems and provide problem solving techniques
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings used in the construction of the company's products.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity as it relates to detailed assembly processes
  • Ability to use hand tools and electronic test equipment such as drills, presses, multimeters, oscilloscopes and soldering equipment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work independently and quickly with minimum supervision
  • Works closely with mechanical and electrical design engineers providing feedback

 

Qualifications Summary:
 

Requires extensive knowledge in specialized functions. A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with and understanding of, both general and specific aspects and the technical phases of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Candidate will ideally be or have been IPC trained and have worked with in the Defence, Aerospace or Nuclear industries. Prior experience with Electronic & Electromechanical Software Design and/or AutoCAD Electrical a definite plus.
